New Incoterms 2010
Incoterms 2010 valid from 1 January 2011.
Incoterms define the responsibilities of buyers and sellers: they determine which party has to conclude the transport or insurance contract, when the seller delivers to the buyer and which costs are borne by either side.
The clauses DAF (Delivered At Frontier), DES (Delivered Ex Ship), DEQ (Delivered Ex Quay) und DDU (Delivered Duty Unpaid) were deleted.
New are DAT (Delivered At Terminal) and DAP (Delivered At Place).
Also the transfer of risk has been redefined. There are changes to FOB (Free On Board), CFR (Cost and Freight) and CIF (Cost, Insurance and Freight). In all three cases the transfer of risk occures after loading of the ship at the port of departure.
The new Incoterms 2010 can be found here.
The previous Incoterms will remain valid so that in case of doubt, the version of Incoterms should be specified.
